Calayas persuasive

Name: Calaya

Hook: I think survival 2022 will be good to learn about.

Opinion: It will be good to learn about the outside and survive in the wild.

Main Idea 1: This survival night will be good to learn how to cook without power and set up a place to stay if you don't have anywhere to stay.

Detail: To look after yourself in the bushes.

Main idea 2: That we will be safe and looked after. Will get along with our class

In detail, there are 5 adults going.

Conclusion (say my opinion again and main points)

My persuasive way of not going to the 2022 survival camp

In my opinion, I think I should not go on the year 7/8 survival trip.

I should not go because people go hunting out there, using guns, and hunters probably won't know we’re there shooting. Another reason why I should not go is that I was not organized even though we got told heaps of times. Also, if it rains while we sleep we will get flooded in and I don't wanna get wet or get up early just to get the water out of our tent.

It’ll be uncomfortable sleeping on the ground. It gets stressful setting up if the sun burns hot. You could easily get injured and sunburnt. Imagine, if some kind of weird animals come to crawl into our tent, something bad could happen.

I also don’t enjoy going camping because it feels bad not having a shower for 2 days. Plus, they don't have a proper toilet. People will go for a shower in the lake but, that's yucky because there are animals out in nature and that's probably where they go for a swim.

Mum, I know you want me to go so I can get out of your face and you can get peace and quiet. But you know I don't like going camping or sleeping somewhere else. The more I think about the Year 7 & 8 Survivor, the more I know I won't enjoy it.

Parable of the servants

In class, this week we read the parable of the three servants.

This paragraph is about, the boss giving the employees money but none of them getting the same amount of money. They earned money because they were talented and would sometimes help him. The third employer was lazy, he could have traded something for the money or banked it. Instead, he goes and buried it and gave it back to the boss because the boss was angry with him. Not only did he get away with his laziness but he also got severely punished.

This parable taught me to be grateful for what God he's given me. Everyone should be grateful for what they have and got. Everyone has a talent and mine is riding dirtbikes and arguing.

My cinquain poem

In class, we have been learning about what is a cinquain poem.

New ending

In class, we read the Thirst, and our task was to make up our own ending to the story.

I think I have done the following well: Using figurative language

Something I still need to work on is adding more about their thoughts, and feelings and explaining more about what's going on in one part.

Dad shouted once more. His voice rumbled through the trees, scattering the birds that had been perched at the cans quenching their thirst. There was no sign of Ryder. Ryder was frightened to come back home because he knew he was in the wrong. Fear built up in Ryder's soul, what should I do? He wondered.

Ryder's mum and dad had guilt in them that Ryder shouldn’t have stolen their water.

His mum and dad asked each other “what shall we do to keep him away from stealing their water?”

Ryder's dad asked Brooke, “Where did your brother go” Brooke's voice quivered “ I don't know, he didn't tell me where he was going”. Mum was mad. Brooke and her dad jumped in the truck, searching for him around town, and went to Ryder's mate's house but they didn't go through the forest. A few hours passed, Ryder knocked on the door. No one answered. He was scared.

Ryder went knocking around the house after he came running out of the forest. Brooke heard and got scared because it was late at night. She ran to her dad's room but Ryder said “Brooke don't wake dad up just open the door” she replied, “Ryder your back” running to the door all happily. “Shhhh shhh Brooke your gonna wake mum and dad up” She opened the door quietly “ where did you go, we were worried about you” she threw her arms around him and gave him a big hug. Go get some sleep Ryder said. The sun shone upon Ryder's face. He opened his eyes and boom! There was his dad. Ryder gripped his blankets and said “ I'm sorry dad I didn't mean to” with fear in his voice. His dad said “ I'm proud of you son, your trying to look after us” his dad pulled him out of bed and said “come here son, come to have breakfast” but Ryder you have to get a consequence because you stole. A smile flew on his mum's face as Ryder walked into the kitchen. “I'm glad your home and safe” she replied. Later in the day, she questioned him about why he stole their neighbor's water and why?

He replied “ because I saw how dirty Brookes's uniform was and how the paint off the house was coming off” so I did something for us.” You're still getting a consequence Ryder, stealing isn't good, especially from our neighbors” dad said.  “Okay, ill take it” Ryder moaned. Brooke came walking into the kitchen, “did you know that he was stealing water, Brooke?”  “No no, he didn't tell me what he was doing I just saw him doing something, but he didn't say he was stealing our neighbor's water” “Ok ok, but you might have to get a little consequence because you seen him doing it and didn't tell him no” Mum replied. Brooke stomped away to her room. “Oh, these kids” mum groaned. It was the next day, “Ryder get up and rake all these brown, crusty, dirty leafs” dad said. “Ohh can do it later” Ryder replied,  “No,” said, dad. The more he didn't want to do it, the more he had to do it cause he kept moaning about it. Hours passed and he still hasn't finished.”Go Brooke your turn” “oh can I clean the kitchen instead” that's a good idea. So there were their consequences. They’ll learn now.

Now you see it, now you don't

I have been learning to use show not tell to make my narrative interesting.

I do this by describing how the characters are feeling and what their thinking and trying to have characters' dialogue. This is the story I changed.

                             The Rip

There were two brothers who were not at all alike;  they were different in every way. The younger brother always stayed on the sand. The older brother was always in the water. The older brother liked to swim with his bros, diving, tumble, bombing, snorkel, and surf in the waves. During the day the older brother liked to go on lots of adventures but the younger brother would stay safe on the sand. Sometimes the older brother would creep up to the younger brother and drag him into the water. “Oh come on you little chicken, it’s only waves,” teased the older brother.

One morning their mother got angry with them “ like a cat and a mouse!” she yelled “out you go together”, she said, “and try to be nice to each other for once. Why did you have to come?” Jack moaned.” I didn't want to come. I don't even like the water. “Your such a baby! You're afraid of the water!” The older brother left him and went for a swim. “Hey! Come here!” he yelled a little while late. Gingerly, James walked over to see what he wanted,” come on just jump in for once” Jack splashed him, He froze in place. “N-no, you didn't just splash me”. James imagined all the horrible things it could lead to… “Ah! You’re lame”, said jack as  James walked away back to making his sandcastles.

James waited for Jack to get out of the water. Fear gripped his heart. Tears threatened to burst from his eyes. What could he do? He had to follow him into the water. The water was light blue, with seaweed floating and children laughing. He found himself tangled up in seaweed - there was no sign of his brother. Quivering, he saw his brother going further out. Fish, stingrays, and sharks - what other creatures could be lurking here? His mind longed to turn back, but his heart would not let him. He could not leave - for what would become of his brother? “Brother! Where are you? He yelled as he ran. The more he ran, the more he wanted to get help for his brother and to get him out of the water.

A fierce wind whipped through the sand. He continued to struggle through the seaweed as he called for help for his brother. Just when he knew he couldn’t swim on, he was released from the seaweed. There in front of him was his brother just floating there lifeless. He swam to his brother and wrapped his cold arms around him and held tight. As he ran back holding his brother in his arms, he was slowly coming back to life.

They ran back up onto the bright golden sand, through the cutty grass, into the lifeguard station, and out again. Together. When they reached home, their mother was setting the table. “Hello”, she said “you two seem very quiet. “Is everything alright?” James smiled at his brother. Jack smiled back

Its so cold

In class, we do a cold task to find out what we already know. Our cold task was on narrative writing. This is a snapshot of what I can do in 30 minutes by myself.

We are learning to self-assess our writing so we know what we are good at and what we need to work on.

What I want to in prove in my work is to use better punctuation and to show not tell.

Name: Calaya

It was the holidays, I and my cousin were messaging each other.

I decided it was a good idea to go pick her up on the quad and my sister. When we arrived at her house she said “ill get my quad we’ll have a race “I agreed.

So she asked if my sister wanted to hop on her with her and if her sister will hop on with me. We were riding up and down her road until she tried to do sideways on it. We were already halfway to her house until my cousin looked back and saw they had flipped.

I rushed back to them, we were freaked out. My cousin and sister were under the bike, that wasn't a good moment.  At that point, the man living on the corner had seen everything. He came running out and pushed the bike up from them. My cousin that was under the bike said

“go get my dad please”

I quickly rushed to get her dad,  my uncle. He was there in no time. He was mad. I followed him back up to them on the bike. By the time I got to them, they were alright. My cousin got taken to the hospital a few minutes after.

She was crying that she might have broken her arm, sure enough, she did. Later that day I went home to see if my sister was alright. She had a big hole in her elbow, it was disgusting. My nan took her to the doctor to wrap her arm

A few months later I went to visit her asking if she was allowed to come but it was, of course, a no. Since that day my cousins aren't allowed to ride or hop on a bike with us ever again. But that's a memory from their scars they say.

Forgiveness

We have been learning about forgiving people.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37

I learned something new because this is a new story to me.

Random Story Line

My class read hatchet but I missed days so I wrote this.

One day, long long ago a girl named Faith ran away from her family for a very long time. They had no idea where or who she could be with or where she would be. They searched for her everywhere but she wasn't seen, until one day they put posters up about her all around town. Some random lady came running up to Faith's mum, Faith's mum introduced herself  “Hi my name is Nila'' the lady looked scared she said okay but I saw some man with your daughter.  The lady was holding a  picture of Faith saying she saw her with a man putting her in the back of his boot. Nila freaked out; she had no idea that it was Faith.  Faith's mum was frightened. So there was the clue, she had been kidnapped.

That lady that saw Faith get kidnapped had a picture in her mind of the man and of what his car looked like. So that lady helped Nila look for her. They quickly jumped in the car and went looking around town. The lady had spotted the man's car and told Nila “drive faster drive faster’ i see his car. They caught up to him in traffic but he drove away, zooming past all the cars. Nila got his number plate to his car so they knew it was his car. The lady saw his car parked up at a dead-end road, Nila pulled over next to him he was suspicious.

The man jumped out of his car all masked up, Nila and the lady jumped out of their car too. Nila screamed at him “ give my daughter back! “ He tried to quickly jump in his car but Nila grabbed him. The lady came running over to his car, grabbed his keys, and quickly got Faith out of the boot. Faith was scared when she jumped out but Nila held on to the man and put him in the boot, shut the boot, and left him there. Nila gave Faith a huge hug and said “let's get out of here” They all jumped in the car and took off. Nila thanked the lady for helping find Faith, and the lady said “no worries”.

Nila dropped the lady off at her house and asked for her number. The lady said, “I'm glad I saw you around and helped find your daughter.” Nila couldn't be much happier. Nila went home and spent time with Faith but didn't question her why she left. It was a few weeks later until Nila rang that same lady and asked to hang out, the lady was pleased to say yes of course. Nila and the lady became very close friends. Nila took Faith to see all her family, they were all happy to see her. Nila asked Faith if she wanted to sleep there, she of course said yes. They had a family feast and made beds in the sitting room. Later through the year I got a call from a random number, I answered it and they told me the lady that helped me find faith passed away.

Story time

This term we are learning about narrative writing. Some things I have been learning about is to show not tell and narratives.

End of the world Orientation. Setting & characters

It was a sunny afternoon and skyscrapers, hotels, buildings, and highways were full of green grass and weeds around the whole city. Animals were running around a lonely city and birds were chirping through the sky. I fell out of a plane into the lonely city of New York and lay there wondering where I am in the world.

A box came thundering out of a long tower and stuff came gambling out of it. I picked up this strange thing out of the box and it was telling me something. I heard strange noises coming from the sky so I began to run. Out came this big flying robot from the corner of the buildings it came following me. I ran to the motorbike and began to take off. I

went through the forest, the robot came gambling through the bushes, and out came the animals running around. I came to an end and decided to jump onto the robot so I wouldn't have fallen off the cliff. The robot went crashing down into the desert and I jumped out and walked around to see if anyone was there. I yelled “hello hello” to anyone there. I was finally there.

In class, we have been learning about courage. We had to choose a quote that we like and create a motivational poster about it. I like this quote because I do something and then work on it then I get better and better at it.

I learned how to that a good poster is eye-catching and has a purpose. In mind, I learned how to use different colors and fonts in my work. This was easy-ish to cooperate with.
